SAFELab is developing the Penn Center for Inclusive Innovation and Technology through SP2 at the Pennovation Center. This hub will offer resources and will work with Pennovation startups to think more about diversity, equity and inclusion as they develop their products and companies. The Pennovation Accelerator invites a cohort of local startups to engage in a six-week program to develop their business strategy and cultivate their network.  Cohort companies will  participate in weekly educational sessions presented by subject matter experts.  Each company is paired with an experienced mentor to advise them on their journey. In addition, curated networking opportunities help the companies make connections into the larger Philadelphia entrepreneurial community.

The Pennovation Center Mentor-in-Residence (MIR) Program pairs our startup companies with accomplished entrepreneurs and industry leaders who serve as informal advisors. Each month, one Mentor hosts virtual office hours to answer business questions on topics ranging from business strategy to market penetration and fundraising.

On Wednesday, July 27th, the Pennovation Accelerator held their fifth annual Pitch Day at the Pennovation Center. The culminating event for the six-week program focused on business development. In case you missed it, you can find a recording of the event here.    
 

After nearly three years cultivating their business within the Pennovation Works ecosystem, Chris Franzwa, Anthony Merlino, Tony Samaritano, and Nils Thorjussen, founders of Verge Aero, are packing up their drones and heading south. Verge Aero is a drone automation company specializing in the automation of drones for new markets such as drone delivery, choreography, and developing enabling technologies. They develop and manufacture everything necessary to easily create and fly sophisticated drone shows.

The 2022 Pennovation Accelerator officially launched Wednesday, June 15th for the program's fifth summer!

The Pennovation Accelerator cohort companies represent a variety of industries across consumer products, health tech and robotics.  The 6-week curriculum will focus on the makings of a strong pitch, from business model to storytelling, and will culminate in a Pitch Day on Wednesday, July 27th (save the date!).
