From calves to canines, Penn Vet shines at Pennsylvania Farm Show

This year’s Pennsylvania Farm Show celebrated America’s 250th anniversary with the theme “Growing a Nation.” 

Over the course of the show, which is the nation’s biggest indoor agricultural exposition, Penn Vet faculty, staff, and leadership met with young people interested in becoming veterinarians, staffed the ‘Calving Corner’ exhibit, and showed off the expertise of the animals at Penn Vet’s Working Dog Center.

Sniffing out cancer: Trained dogs can detect hemangiosarcoma by scent

Studies suggest that between one-third and one-half of all dogs will develop cancer during their lifetime. 

Hemangiosarcoma, an aggressive, malignant cancer of blood vessel cells, is especially devastating and described as a “silent killer.” Currently, there are no diagnostic measures or tools to detect it early, and the prognosis once diagnosed is poor.

Philly Tech Council's AI for Everyone Event Recap

The Philadelphia tech community gathered at Pennovation Works on November 21, 2025, for the highly anticipated fourth installment of the Philly Tech Council's AI for Everyone series. This popular event delivered an afternoon of high energy, expert insights, and powerful networking, reinforcing Philly's position as a vibrant tech hub.

This year's program dove deep into the most critical trends in artificial intelligence, focusing on AI Agents, the pace of innovation, cybersecurity risks, and AI’s impact on the job market.

Polyhedral Structures Laboratory's 3-D printed carbon-absorbing Diamanti project featured on CNN

While concrete is the world’s most used manmade material, its carbon footprint accounts for around 8% of global greenhouse emissions. 

Polyhedral Structures Laboratory, a research team from Penn and a tenant at Pennovation Works, has been working on a project called Diamanti. This project features a 3-D printed lattice-like pattern made from a sustainable concrete mixture using diatomaceous earth.
