Take Our Children To Work Day Connects Kids to Real-World Innovation at Pennovation Works

Pennovation Works recently welcomed more than 40 students and parents from Intech Construction to the Pennovation Center for Take Our Children To Work Day, offering a hands-on introduction to careers in construction, research, and innovation.

The day began on the Pennovation Plaza with a live search-and-rescue demonstration by the Penn Vet Working Dog Center. The demonstration gave attendees a firsthand look at how highly trained working dogs support critical operations, while also highlighting the intersection of science, training, and real-world application.

Following the demonstration, guests heard from Brock Kirwan, Director of MindCORE, who shared insights into brain research and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing discovery. The presentation provided a broader perspective on how different fields connect within an innovation ecosystem.

Participants then toured the active construction site, where they learned about the many roles involved in bringing complex projects to life, from planning and engineering to execution. The day concluded with lunch and interactive activities, giving students time to connect and reflect on what they had experienced.

Together, these activities offered a dynamic look at how ideas move from concept to reality, while introducing students to a wide range of potential career paths.

Thank you to Intech Construction for their partnership and for helping create an engaging and memorable experience for the next generation.
