Introduction to Mindfulness-Based Stress Management [event recap]

On April 15th, Penn Medicine’s Penn Program for Mindfulness facilitated a virtual workshop for the Pennovation community on Mindfulness-Based Stress Management. Mara Wai, MEd, Associate Director of the Penn Program for Mindfulness, provided an overview of how mindfulness works and introduced the group to some introductory techniques and exercises.

Pennovation Morning Coffee [event recap]

While many companies have transitioned to working remotely, the Pennovation community has been coming together for a virtual coffee every week on Tuesday mornings in order to stay connected.

There have been delightful guest appearances from many pets, children, and significant others. The group has shared wellness strategies, tales of home cooking projects, and movie recommendations. A taste of some of the movie recommendations are: Chasing Trane, Frozen 2, Good Boys, Midsommar, Dhalinyaro, and Parasite. 

Pennovation Accelerator Summer 2020

The Pennovation Accelerator invites a cohort of local startups to engage in a six-week virtual program to develop their business strategy and cultivate their network.  Cohort companies will  participate in weekly educational sessions presented by subject matter experts.  Each company is paired with an experienced mentor to advise them on their journey. In addition, curated networking opportunities help the companies make connections into the larger Philadelphia entrepreneurial community.

1776 and Salesforce Present: Growth Stack [event recap]

1776 and Salesforce were excited to collaborate on a Growth Stack program at the Pennovation Center recently. 1776 members, Pennovation members, and founders from around the Philadelphia region gathered with experts in sales and growth strategies from a variety of positions and industries. Founders had the opportunity to introduce themselves to our experts and ask any questions on their minds relating to these topics. Thanks to the 1776 team for organizing the event and a special thanks to our experts for offering their time to our members.

KIZ/KOZ Information Session at Pennovation [event recap]

One of the perks of working at the Pennovation Center is access both the KIZ and the KOZ tax incentives. In February, we brought experts in both programs to speak with our members and tenants about the benefits for small businesses. The experts also stayed for office hours where participants could ask question unique to their companies and situations. We're grateful to our partners at PCI Ventures for hosting such a valuable and relevant program for our community.

Redefining Innovation in Rare Disease Drug Development [event recap]

1776 recently welcomed Horizon Pharmaceuticals to the Pennovation Center to discuss the impact of rare diseases on pharmaceutical innovation. Moderated by Carter McClure, Managing Director of the Pennovation Center, the evening's panel dealt with questions and challenges regarding the rare diseases that affect 30 million patients in the US. Panelists offered thoughts on how stakeholders in the rare disease community must work together to close the innovation gap and address unmet medical needs for patients.
