It’s been an exciting year for the Pennovation Center, which kicked off its grand opening in October 2016.
Since the Pennovation Center’s founding in 2016, one of the many visions of its purpose has been to serve as a stepping stone for Philadelphia startups.
In September 2016, the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) officially opened The Pennovation Center, a 58,000 square-foot facility that allows researchers, innovators, and entrepreneurs to plant and grow a business.
Pennovation Member, Aerial Applications, provided wide area damage assessment in the wake of Hurricane Irma, flying over 400 square miles to capture aerial imagery.
On September 8th, The Center hosted a Pennovation Works Community Concert.
It was a truly wonderful night on the plaza, made all the more wonderful by the musical offerings ofAndre Thierry & Zydeco Magic and the presence of several Grays Ferry community organizations.
It began with seven puppies in one room. Five years later, the Penn Vet Working Dog Center has multiplied its footprint several times over, with 29 working dogs-in-training, 42 canine graduates, and a burgeoning community of close to 200 dedicated staff, students, interns, and volunteers.
Inside Grays Ferry’s Pennovation Center — a 58,000-square-foot research hub from the University of Pennsylvania — you’ll find a half dozen drone startups building out their products and testing their flying gizmos.
