More and more accelerator programs are going virtual this year creating a unique opportunity for startups to engage with programs based in different cities and states, without the travel expenses.  In August, Pennovation Works invited a couple of these accelerator programs to host virtual info sessions for our members.

On July 29th, JLABS hosted the first cross-site engagement for companies in the Boston, New York, and Philadelphia ecosystems. A total of 15 companies representing all of the Northeast sites joined to introduce themselves and their work.

This was also an opportunity to share the two new residents of the JPOD @ Philadelphia: Orthoforge and SOLUtion Medical. 
 

Pennovation Center's third accelerator ended with two startups winning prizes, including one that seeks to improve the way surgeons communicate with each other during minimally invasive surgery.

On Thursday, July 23rd, the JPOD @ Philadelphia hosted virtual 1-on-1 meetings with early-stage investment firm, Golden Seeds, who are focused on women-led businesses. Six Golden Seeds members, including three of the co-leaders of their Health Care sector -- Laura Davis, Petra Meyer, and Mitzi Krockover -- met with 13 companies across the afternoon. The 1-on-1 discussions were an opportunity for companies to introduce their work to the Golden Seeds team, and understand what Golden Seeds is looking for when making an investment. 

In its third summer, the six-week program for startup companies went entirely virtual, but that didn’t stop the cohort of entrepreneurs from learning, networking, and innovating.

On Thursday, July 16th, the Pennovation Accelerator held their virtual Pitch Day, the culminating event for the six-week program focused on the makings of a strong pitch. In case you missed it, you can find a recording of the event here!
