People with hemophilia require regular infusions of clotting factor to prevent them from experiencing uncontrolled bleeding. But a significant fraction develop antibodies against the clotting factor, essentially experiencing an allergic reaction to the very treatment that can prolong their lives.
The Pennovation Center is proud to note that COSY, BioBots, and XEED have all made this 2017 list.

What is a “real” company, anyway?
Figuring out which companies are “real” and which ones aren’t is key to productive, relevant coverage of any tech ecosystem. The term is often kicked around in our newsroom when a new company reaches out with an update. “Are they real?” can also be thought of as the question that helps us keep tabs on the big companies of the future.
The Pennovation Center in Gray’s Ferry has just earned LEED Gold certification.
Co-designed by Hollwich Kushner and Philly firm KSS Architects, Pennovation is a new innovation center in Grays Ferry, run by the University of Pennsylvania.
One of the most notable features of the 58,000-square-foot center is its facade, an angular structure that shoots out from the side with views of University City. But it’s the behind-the-scenes details that helped Pennovation earn LEED Gold, which is the second-to-highest rating after Platinum.

Penn's decision to stay the course, while making big moves -- Penn's influence and prominence in the region goes without saying, which is why the opening of its Pennovation Center at the Pennovation Works campus on Grays Ferry Avenue is so momentous. The anchor point fo the campus, which slowly opened over the fall and hosted a celebratory grand opening in October, is now home to scores of promising biomed, engineering, robotic, fabrication and tech startups in its meticulously designed, 58,000 square-foot space.
