Take Our Children To Work Day 2024 [RECAP]

In April, Pennovation Works hosted 85 children and parents for Take Our Children To Work Day. The theme, "Big Ideas for a Better World" aimed to provide children with insights into various career trajectories while fostering a sense of responsibility towards contributing positively to society's progress.

Throughout the day, Pennovation Works companies showcased an array of engaging demonstrations. Interius Biotherapeutics presented a water filtration demo, while Axonova provided a hands-on experience in creating nanoparticles and experimenting with pH-sensitive cabbage juice watercolors. Attendees also had the chance to delve into the innovative world of optical imaging devices through interactive sessions led by Instapath and view a slideshow presentation about mobile app, Philly Unlimited, who is combatting violence and homelessness in Philadelphia. Meanwhile, the Penn Vet Working Dog Center showcased the incredible training process of search and rescue dogs.

For lunch, families enjoyed food from various food trucks and had the opportunity to play games such as Jenga and cornhole on the Plaza. 

“Pennovation staff went above and beyond to plan a great day for families. My kids loved the working dogs and science experiments! The food trucks were a wonderful bonus treat” shared Penn’s Center for Excellence in Teaching, Learning, and Innovation Director, Jessica Morris.
