On May 8, for Philly Tech Week 2019, PACT and the Penn Center for Innovation hosted a morning event on "Robotics Innovation @ Penn" at the Pennovation Center. The event took a look inside the University of Pennsylvania's robotics labs, as the 72 guests in attendance got to hear first-hand from faculty, students, and graduates about the exciting and transformative advancements in robotics, aerial robotics, and AI technologies. The speakers represented a wide array of companies and research happening across the Pennovation Works campus:
- Gavin Kenneally, Chief Product Officer at Ghost Robotics
- Daniel Mellinger, Director of Engineering at Qualcomm Research Philadelphia (QRP), a division of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
- Divya Ramesh, Masters Student in Kod*lab, part of the Penn Engineering Research and Collaboration Hub (PERCH)
- Mickey Whitzer, PhD Student in GRASP Lab, part of PERCH
- Chao Liu, PhD Student in ModLab, part of PERCH
The event included an in-person demonstration of four-legged robots, as well as video demonstrations of autonomous vehicles and autonomous aerial robots.
