On May 7, as part of Philly Tech Week 2019, Crown Castle, the nation’s largest provider of shared communications infrastructure, partnered with the Pennovation Center to host a panel entitled, "5G & the Future of Wireless Connectivity." Moderated by Anne Bovaird Nevins, Chief Strategy and Communications Officer at PIDC, the panel featured:
- Mike Hughes, VP of Engineering at Crown Castle
- Mark Wheeler, Chief Information Officer at the City of Philadelphia
- Vasileios Nasis, CEO at Netronix, a Pennovation Works resident
- Nathan Sullivan, Chief Technology Officer at Aerial Applications, a Pennovation Center member
The 42 audience members listened as the panel offered unique perspectives on how critical wireless connectivity is for Philadelphia today and in the future. The group also discussed how next-generation networks like 5G are important for the development of effective, real-time first responder technologies, in the case of Aerial Application's drone imaging software, and the internet of things (IoT), in the case of Netronix.
