In this edition of Meet the Innovator, we welcome Seth Harrington, Team Administrator at Avisi Technologies
Before we get to know Seth, let's get to know Avisi Technologies:
Avisi Technologies is creating a next-generation aqueous shunt to treat glaucoma. Their device, the VisiPlate, is 20x thinner than a human hair and made of alumina, making it long-lasting and decreasing procedure time. Avisi is a member of the Pennovation Center, where they have a Startup Garage and lab bench since July 2018. Avisi has won the Y-Prize and President’s Innovation Prize from the University of Pennsylvania, and they are currently a resident company at the JPOD@Philadelphia.

How long have you been working at Avisi Technologies?
- I've been working here for about 4 months (a Pennovation newbie!)
What do you find to be most rewarding about your work?
- I would say the most rewarding aspect is being around a community of like-minded individuals that really help shape the world in a better way.
What do you find to be the most challenging?
- Staying creative/innovative in these challenging times
What’s the best part about working at Pennovation?
- The community! Being able to be around all these like-minded people is great.
What’s been your favorite food truck that has come to Pennovation?
- The Seafood Truck. The Crab Cakes (Just like our May Innovator, Chris Toews!)
Where are you originally from?
- South Central PA so around Gettysburg....you know battlefields...lots of ghosts
What’s the best part about living in Philadelphia?
- The food first off, atmosphere -- definitely moved here for that fast-paced environment.
