The University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Facilities and Real Estate Services announced today that Heathland Hospitality Group will bring food service to the Pennovation Center – the University’s new business, technology and laboratory incubator opening in August 2016.

Heathland Hospitality Group is a metro Philadelphia-based café and corporate dining business committed to hiring and purchasing from the local community. Starting in mid-August, Heathland will serve grab-and-go coffee, beverages, sandwiches and snacks to the hungry minds populating the Pennovation Center (3401 Grays Ferry Ave.). The ground-floor café area will be open weekdays from 8AM to 4PM. Food service for events in the outdoor Pennovation Plaza may be separately arranged. Heathland already operates three locations on Penn’s University City campus.

“The focus of those in the innovation community is on their work,” said Anne Papageorge, Vice President, Facilities and Real Estate Services at Penn, “so we wanted to provide an onsite café to fuel their creativity with easy, healthy food choices.”

“We are excited to offer Pennovation guests with flexible culinary options that are grown regionally. We incorporate local products that are always fresh and change with the seasons,” said Bob Wurtz, president and founder, Heathland Hospitality Group. “Our menu is presented in a retail format that focuses on vegetable and legume-centered foods, sandwiches and salads, made-from-scratch soups, fresh-baked pastries, ripe, seasonal fruit, breakfast sandwiches, diverse beverages, as well as convenience offerings.” Beverage choices include fresh-brewed fair-trade and Rainforest Alliance coffee from Philadelphia’s own Elixr Coffee, said Mr. Wurtz.

With founding principles, Fresh, Local, Personal and Responsible, Heathland Hospitality Group is dedicated to preparing fresh, local and seasonal food in a socially responsible manner. Learn more at heathlandhospitality.com.
