Over the first weekend in February, the Women in Computer Science (WiCS) chapter at the University of Pennsylvania continued its annual tradition of hosting FemmeHacks, a collegiate hackathon for woman-identifying* individuals.
Saturday, February 3rd brought the arrival of the 12-hour hackathon at Pennovation Center. Participants met with professional mentors, who would assist them in bringing their visions to life. The day also included workshops with both technical and professional subject matter, ranging from Python programming to resume building. By the end of the night, the atmosphere was abuzz with inspiration, creativity, and pure excitement as projects were finalized and submitted. FemmeHacks concluded with an award ceremony, recognizing several teams for outstanding creativity and innovation.

*The FemmeHacks team recognizes that “woman” is a complicated term. The event will always be open to both trans and cis women, as well as non-binary and gender non-conforming individuals.
