Benjamin's Desk is Now 1776

Benjamin’s Desk, the operator of  the Pennovation Center since its opening in 2016, has now unveiled a unified brand as ‘the new’ 1776, following their exciting merger announced last year  with this global innovation network.  1776 is bringing much more than a new company name to the Pennovation community. With access to 1776's entire global network, Pennovation Center members now have even more resources to help build and scale their companies.

Members can now sign up for both in-person and virtual office hours with 1776 mentors with experience in science, entrepreneurship, finance, government and education. Experts in their fields, 1776 mentors are prepared to lend guidance to members at any stage of their startup journeys. Conversation topics can range from navigating complex, highly regulated markets to raising capital to overcoming common business development challenges. The 1776 Founder Network provides access to founders who have led their companies through both rapid growth and successful exits.

With more than 1500 companies and over 2500 founders, 1776 has grown a substantial network of potential partners and collaborators. Pennovation Center members can connect with other 1776 members at campuses throughout Philadelphia, Washington DC, Brooklyn NY and along the U.S. Northeast Corridor, on the 1776 Slack community, and on the UNION platform. 1776 will also enhance programming at Pennovation Center, through a growing curriculum of events, workshops, and classes. 1776’s popular Capital Stack program, connects founders directly to venture capitalists, angel investors, and advisors for intimate, candid conversations about securing investments and delivering value.

The 1776 speaker series has brought notable figures like Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Steve Case, and Arlan Hamilton to campuses across the network. Future workshops and classes will prepare members looking to attract and cultivate talent, to improve their communications and marketing programs and to navigate the complexities of taxes and accounting.

The 1776 team is committed to working together with existing members and interested prospects to create a streamlined experience at the Pennovation Center, whether booking a tour, maintaining space, or reserving space for large meetings or events. The team is ensuring that members know how to connect with everyone from 1776 senior leadership to our campus managers to get the most value from the largest network of entrepreneurial incubators in the U.S. Northeast Corridor.

We are excited about the continued growth of the Pennovation Center, now powered by 1776. Learn more at 1776.vc.
